Tokyo Disney Resort reports drop in annual attendance

Tokyo Disney Resort has reported a 5.2% drop in its attendance over the past year at both of its two theme parks.

The Oriental Land Company, who owns the resort, stated that attendance had fell to 25.81 million visitors, a drop which was attributed to the outbreak of flu in the Far East and the bumped up figures from the previous year due to the 25th anniversary celebrations.

It’s not all bad news for the resort, the attendance figure exceeded the target the company set by four million visitors and was the second largest yearly attendance ever recorded at Tokyo Disneyland Resort.

The news will send mixed signals to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts due to the still weak performance of Hong Kong Disneyland , the Walt Disney Company’s other licensed park in the Far East which will soon be join by Shanghai Disneyland, the companies first expansion into Mainland China.
